On 1st December EULIS hosted their Conference ‘Land Registration Information Provision in the context of e-Justice – Updating the model for EULIS with European land registry organisations’ in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
50 participants, representing 18 Member/Candidate States were invited to come together to hear a wide variety of presentations. Delegates included European land registries (those already members of EULIS and those not already members), European organisations such as ELRA, EuroGeographics, Semic.eu, European Business Register, professional users such as the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks, as well as representatives from Ministries of Justice, the Council of the EU and the European Commission.
The agenda included a presentation from Ivo Thiemrodt, European Commission, DG JLS General justice issues and e-Justice, Bengt Kjellson, EULIS chairman of the board, Henrik Olin, representing the Swedish Presidency of the EU and Wim Louwman, representing the European Land Registry Association (ELRA). All presentations are available for download.

In the afternoon, the Conference included interactive style workshops on three topics: Vision for EULIS 2.0 – what it might look like and how you want to be involved, e-Justice portal and relevance to land registers and Semantics and reference information discussion group. The sessions raised discussion and questions (summaries will be posted shortly) which can continue to be discussed and EULIS would invite your views, should you have any you’d like to share with us.

Kadaster, the Dutch Land Registry office, a member of EULIS, hosted the EULIS Conference at their office in Amsterdam.
‘We are very pleased to have had so many attending the EULIS Conference this year. We hope to foster a way of working together with more Land Registries in the future to provide the next generation of EULIS services. The important developments of the European e-Justice portal will have an impact on the way we decide to do this.’ says Bengt Kjellson, Chairman of EULIS board.
The message of the Conference from EULIS specifically to land registry organisations (not already EULIS members) was to join up for a reduced fee and be involved in the future developments. If you would like to discuss further, please contact us and we would be happy to arrange meetings.
