The EULIS Annual General Meeting, December 2008, brought together member countries, those pending connection as well as new countries. Four new countries took the opportunity to hear an update on EULIS’s activities during 2008 and understand more about the service and the benefits of joining.
As a result Italy (Agenzia del Territorio and Provincia Autonoma di Trento e Bolzano, Servizio Libro Fondiario) confirmed they will be working towards connection, all going well, for July 2009. Latvia is interested in preparing the technical pre-requisites for the EULIS service. Both Belgium and Cyprus took the opportunity to learn more about the practical route to connection.
The morning session focussed on reporting the achievements of the EULIS service in 2008, whilst the afternoon contained interesting presentations on the wider environment from EuroGeographics, European Mortgage Federation (EMF) and European Land Registry Association (ELRA).
Bengt Kjellson, Chairman of EULIS Service Board, said “It was particularly interesting to hear the views from new countries and understand how they would be able to connect to the service. Service extension is a key objective for EULIS to increase the potential of the service for customers.”
EULIS plans to hold more events in 2009 for new countries wishing to find out more on connecting to the service.
