The landscape is quite mountainous, with more than three quarters of total area above 200 metres elevation. Glaciers, sands and lava fields further restrict the habitable lowland, and in some places (especially in the East and North west) only a narrow strip of arable land is between the mountains and the coast. In total only around 15% of Iceland is arable.
These are examples of land that is not registered within the database. This includes mostly land owned by municipalities, used for infrastructures such as roads and recreational parks, or unplanned land outside the urban area. The same goes for land owned by the government, like highland in the interior of Iceland.

95% of the titles in Iceland are covered in the Property register which includes land registry, that is 184,500 titles.

53 employees. The head quarters are in Reykjavik and there is one office south of Reykjavik in Selfoss and one in the capital of the north; Akureyri.

Subscribed users:

The Agency sells information both to end users and resellers.
The number of the end users that the Agency sells to is 300. The number of the resellers are 6, and most of the information is sold by the resellers.

Searches available:

Searches can be performed either by the name of the property and/or the properties’ ID number.
Special users can search by a person’s ID number, e.g. tax authorites, polices, lawyers for special purposes.
